Does anyone else struggle with feeling like they are doing everything wrong at first?

I have been trying to learn more about Heathenry over the last couple of months and honestly I keep second guessing myself. I read different sources, look through discussions here, and try to approach everything respectfully, but sometimes it feels like there is so much information that I end up overwhelmed instead of grounded.

One thing I have noticed is that a lot of people seem to build their practice slowly over time instead of having everything figured out immediately. That has helped me calm down a bit. I recently came across a few discussions on FolkRealm where people talked openly about making mistakes early on and it weirdly made me feel less alone about the whole thing.

Right now I am mostly trying to focus on learning and building consistency instead of worrying about whether every small thing is perfect.

Did any of you go through that same stage when you first started?

I think I understand offerings differently now than when I started

When I first got into Heathenry I treated offerings almost like a transaction without realizing it. I would give something and quietly expect some kind of immediate feeling or confirmation afterward. Over time that mindset started feeling less genuine to me.

Lately the moments that feel most meaningful are the simple ones where I am not expecting anything back at all. Just sitting quietly after lighting a candle or leaving an offering and reflecting for a while has honestly done more for me spiritually than constantly searching for signs.

I started writing some of those reflections down recently because my memory is terrible and I noticed I repeat the same thoughts without realizing it. Looking back at older entries has actually helped me notice growth I would have ignored otherwise. I have been using FolkRealm for that mostly because it keeps everything in one place and feels more organized than scattered notes.

Did anyone else go through a shift like this after practicing for a while?
