Brie and I were hiking and saw a mama bear and two cubs. Brie immediately starting baying. She was going nuts and trying to chase! Mama and one cub ran in one’s direction. and the other cub ran up a tree! Does that count??? Lol I know it doesn’t, they were about 100 feet away. I’ve never seen her treeing. She just doesn’t do it. But, I actually felt bad. I hope that cub makes it down! 😟

My bluetick, Brie, reacts to other dogs. I use distraction with treats. It works if I catch her early enough and as it’s only one dog at a time, and she’s not already overly stimulated, such as right after catching an enticing scent. She also usually can’t control herself if another dog barks first. I’ve had her for four months. A woman I know had a trainer tell her to squirt her dog with a water bottle to get him to stop, and it’s working. Might that approach be more effective?

The loudness of my bluetick Brie’s baying is a blessing when you see a huge black bear on the hiking trail. Brie didn’t see it, it noticed us before we saw it. I saw the back of the huge black bear when it was walking quickly away. As soon as we got to the spot where that bear had been, Brie got extremely loud, assuring me that that bear was running far far away!!!

I am 5 and 1/2 months out from rotator cuff surgery. My doctor says the surgery failed. Maybe not completely. I had three complete tendon tears. I feel like I keep improving and I’m occasionally sore. No major pain. He is basing his diagnosis on a lateral push test. No mri. Could he be wrong?

Brie discovered morning naps in mom’s bed! I’m anticipating hair in the mouth from the spring shedding, but I don’t have the heart to kick her off. She sleeps on
the couch and after our morning walk and breakfast this is her new spot.
