Started mounjaro yesterday!
I've been going back and forth on glp1s for the last few years.
I'm 30F now and have always struggled with my weight. The only time I managed to lose weight was in my early 20s. I had to do extremely low carb and revolve my entire life around food and going to the gym. I lost weight and looked great until the food noise and health issues caused by eating so little took a toll. I ended up really sick and a cycle of losing/gaining the same 10lbs.
My weight then started creeping up after getting an office job, busy life and then covid lockdown. Since then my weight had been going up in bursts until I finally hit 260lbs and decided enough is enough. I just can't lose weight unless I go to extremes and I don't have the time, energy or health for that anymore. I have hashimotos and I want to get pregnant after losing weight so health is a top priority rather than just looking good.
I was nervous about going to the gp as I've been to a lot of bad GPs in the past who said all I need to do is eat less and move more and any health concerns I had were because of my weight. My current GP is amazing though and as soon as I mentioned I was frustrated with my weight she started the glp1 conversation. She said obesity is now looked at as a metabolic disorder and glp1s can help fix the issues associated with this. She even suggested printing off the prescriptions so I could compare pharmacy prices and look at options.
It's the first time I feel a bit of hope in years. I took the first 2.5mg shot yesterday evening and I'm not sure if it's placebo but I'm feeling great so far. I also lost a lb already which is definitely just water weight but it's the first time in forever I've seen the scale go anything other than up or stay the same!
I'm a bit nervous about side effects but excited to start seeing results! I'll give another update in a couple of months, hopefully with good news.
