Demo of Lottie asset in Camtasia Editor

Big upgrade to TechSmith Assets: we've added IconScout as a new animation provider (via LottieFiles).

For anyone who hasn't run into them before: Lottie files are lightweight, vector-based animations (built on JSON) that stay crisp at any size and load fast They are easy to customize without any quality loss.

Our previous animation selection was solid but limited (~100k assets) and occasionally unstable. IconScout brings more reliability plus over 3 million animation assets to choose from.

Even better, these animations are entirely customizable. You can recolor, resize, or retime right inside of the Camtasia Editor. It takes just a few clicks to match your branding and intent, so animations don't just decorate your video, they actually feel like yours.

It's live now in the latest Camtasia Editor release! Open the Assets panel and check the Animation category. Or browse everything directly at library.techsmith.com.

This new content is part of the premium (paid) Camtasia Assets offering. It's not included in the core assets library included as part of all Camtasia Editor subscriptions - but you should check that out as well if you haven't in a while.

We dropped two new releases of Snagit in July. Note Snagit full brand is Camtasia Snagit to reflect it's integration and inclusion in the overall Camtasia suite (Editor, Audiate, Online, etc).

2026.3.0 introduced the headline feature: you can now share Step Captures straight to Camtasia Online or Camtasia Editor 2026.2.0+ to instantly turn a step-by-step capture into a how-to video — steps drop right onto the timeline so you can just add narration and polish.

There's also an experimental Smart Redact accuracy boost (with Optimized OCR on), a refreshed, more accessible UI with updated colors/icons, Step Capture thumbnails now show image counts, and a dedicated Step Capture library category.

IT admins get a stack of security patches (expat, freetype, harfbuzz, libpng16, pango) plus Windows Authentication support for OneDrive/SharePoint/Teams sharing, and there are crash fixes (recording toolbar, clipboard/new image, Smart Move, locked-state restore).

The follow-up, 2026.3.1, builds on that by having Snagit send images to Camtasia Online in the original .snagx format — preserving cursor, text, and other capture data for smoother video creation. It also bumped the minimum Interval Capture time from 1 to 3 seconds, brought back the Compose Email option in Share to Email, improved screen-reader accessibility in the Tool Properties/Effects panels and Time Delay options, patched a privilege-escalation vulnerability, and fixed crashes plus a Camtasia Online image-display bug and truncated French share-dialog text.
