Agent or Agencies?
Hey guys, 17M UK based, not too far from London. I'm thinking I'm ready to start submitting to either agents or agencies with my headshots and showreel.
I was just wondering which is better at a very early stage in my career, a solo agent with a smaller roster or a larger agency with a larger roster but potentially more experience or better industry connections? Bearing in mind this is my first experience with either.
My thought process is this:
A solo agent has a much smaller roster, and so there is a possibility that I would be there only actor of my type. That means that were a role that matches my description or something similar I would be their first pick. Also, I can build a better relationship with someone who is more willing to dedicate more time to me.
However, an agency is potentially more trusted by known casting directors. Also, they will have had experience prior with people of my type. This means they may know more about what roles to submit me for, and how to help my career. My worry is, I'll get lost in their larger rosters and not build a good working relationship.
Would love your advice, although I'm sure you get this literally all the time.
Many thanks!
