Irish radio is absolute scutter

I don’t usually listen to the radio, but I call to my mam most days and she does have the radio on, usually listening to Today FM, and holy jaysus, Louise Cantillon has to be the worst. Just pure brain rot slop radio. One time she must have banged on about a lost AirPod for a week. Just nothing of substance. And don’t get me started on playing the same 3 songs over and over and over and over and over on all the stations. Amble this Kingfishr that. Holy Christ.
The other DJs are similar. Ray Foley does atleast give the odd laugh, but Christ the radio is awful. I must get the mammy onto some podcasts.
Anyone else notice this? Any decent stations/DJs left? I do enjoy yer man Matt Cooper in the evenings because he discusses different important topics, there does be the odd row on it too😆

Have you ever gotten petty revenge on someone who wronged you?

Petty revenge! Ultimately harmless, nothing that causes anyone harm or ruination. Stuff like putting a burning bag of dogpoo on their doorstep 😆

Anyone else stuck waiting on an ESB connection?

How long are you waiting?
7 months now since we paid in full, forms in and all, and no one has been out to us at all, called multiple times and they won’t give an ETA.

Is it normal for outer family to cause strife in marriages here?

My husband and I have an amazing relationship just between us, we are literally the very best of friends, and we’ve been together a long time before tying the knot two years ago. Any big issues that have happened since have been from outside factors. My family taking some arbitrary issue with him, and his family taking some arbitrary issue with me, causing stress and upset in the relationship (not between each other, important to note), I should also note, some members of my family doesn’t like his family, and vice versa.

Is this sort of thing common in other marriages? I don’t feel comfortable talking about it with people I know who are also married, a lot seem to have harmonious relationships all around but you never really know for certain. It’s exhausting. Some certain members in my family like to cause drama and fall out with everyone, often fuelled by drink and it doesn’t help that we are living with my family while building our own place.

I guess I’m just looking for some solidarity, that we don’t feel like an outlier here.

EDIT: I meant common, not normal sorry, different meanings there.

Tips for battling loneliness while working from home

Hi all,

Self employed wfh woman in my late 20s. I’m married but my husband is gone for entire day until late 3 times a week with sporting commitments, and the rest of the work week until 8pm doing overtime.
I spend my whole day on my own in silence. No one to talk to only my pets, and it’s getting to me.
I live in the countryside, and don’t have many friends. A part time job wouldn’t be an option because there is very few as it is and it wouldn’t work out for me with my business/I’d be taking a pay cut literally. Also need my equipment at home to work so can’t really hot desk. I am very very flexible in my hours though.

Looking for ideas on how to beat the loneliness and isolation. I go for spins in the car and eat my lunch out here and there but I’m still very much alone during the working week until I have time with my husband or family at the weekend. It’s getting to me mentally. Not much going on locally club wise. Wish I had more friends to even just text during the day.
