Advice for system in apartment

Hello, Im looking into a system to properly survey my apartment.

I do not want intrusive ai, techgiants, subscription fees, or the chance other people can view the feed.

I was curious if I could use adhesive strips to hold up the cameras where I desire, and run the cables naked on the ceiling with gaff tape and replace it so often or something so I don't have to do any drilling.

Im also learning about frigate and rtsp compliant options, then running a raspberry pi or something but Im not the biggest tech person, though I want to get more into it ig this could just be my foot in the door.

I was seeing frigate has some newer features that would easier integrate everything.

It is a little daunting though, and my partner had voiced wanting something simple.

I kinda want something sleek I can also mount on the main door between the gated door and the main so I can see whose at the door itself, though I believe if my fear comes true the person(s) will likely just bust the front window.

(This window is not directly beside the door, or I'd just put something there)

In the end I'm wondering if it would just be better to have an alarm system at the windows x doors.

With a simple camera that stores on an SD card to capture a face, or number of intruders after the fact.

I have a dog etc but Im paranoid about the situation and want everything in my favor.

Hes a big Boi and barks at even friends entering so he is my security atm.

But like I said I'm paranoid and want everything possible in my favor.

My budget is 500.

Thank you in advance, I'm not really sure who to ask about this kind of stuff so I'm turning to Reddit hah.
