

Landturbo Ultra review after 110+ miles – surprisingly impressed
I've put over 110 miles on mine now, mostly using it for a roughly 7-mile commute each way. This is my first scooter. Before buying this, I don't think I'd ridden more than about 10 feet on non-electric. I've ridden motorcycles, bicycles, jet skis, etc., and I think this is more fun.
I'm also probably a pretty good stress test for it. I'm around 370 lbs and usually have a full backpack, so I'm typically putting around 400 lbs on a scooter rated for 330 lbs. Obviously I'm exceeding the manufacturer's rating and I'm not suggesting anyone else do that, but it seems to be holding up to my weight well.
Performance
Despite exceeding the max weight by 70 lbs, it'll actually hit the advertised 35 mph. Acceleration is good and it doesn't feel unstable or sketchy at speed. Build quality has also been better than I expected. After 110+ miles I haven't noticed anything getting loose, weird noises, suspension problems, etc.
That said, 35 mph and sustaining 35 mph are two different things.
Heat & Thermal Protection
The big issue is when thermal protection kicks in, the scooter just shuts down without warning. The first time that happened, I didn't know what was going on and I ended up calling an Uber to pick me and the scooter up (that's the folded scooter image). At the time it was mid-day, ~100°F, and I was going about 5 miles at 35 mph.
Based on the temperatures I've seen in the app, my guess is thermal protection kicks in at around 212°F (100°C), but I haven't found anything from Landturbo confirming the actual cutoff temperature. If you wait ~10 minutes, it will cool off and allow you to turn it back on.
For my normal ~6.8-mile commute, 25 mph seems to be the sweet spot. Depending on weather and conditions, I'm generally finishing around 194–201°F. On a 95°F midday ride in direct South Texas summer sun, I saw 207°F.
Dropping the speed makes a huge difference. One ride at 18 mph, with a full backpack and 91°F outside temperature, ended at only 171°F after 6.2 miles.
So my personal rule has basically become:
20 mph = longer-distance/endurance speed
25 mph = normal commute speed
35 mph = fun/short-burst speed
Range & Maintenance
Range is something I'm still testing. I don't trust the battery percentage reported by the app, so I want to do some longer rides at different fixed speeds and see what the actual usable range is. The battery gauge on the display can vary from 1/4 to full during the same ride depending on how hard I'm pushing the scooter. I'm assuming it's estimating charge from battery voltage, which drops under load and recovers when the load is reduced.
Maintenance was one thing I was initially concerned about because Landturbo seems to be out of stock on quite a few replacement parts. After looking more closely, I'm not particularly worried about the normal wear items.
The tires are 10x2.75-6.5 tubeless at 36 PSI, which are readily available aftermarket. The brakes are standard mechanical discs with F160/R140 hardware, and there are plenty of aftermarket pads, rotors and even complete calipers available. So tires and brakes shouldn't require buying Landturbo-specific parts. If something more custom dies like a controller, its probably time to think about a new scooter.
A couple minor complaints: it's heavy. Around 70 lbs doesn't sound ridiculous until you're carrying an awkward folded scooter up a flight of stairs.
The controls on the scooter have no tactile feel, so it's often hard to figure out which button to press.
Setup was pretty easy, although I had to remove the display before attaching the handlebars because the upper bracket wouldn't go on with the display in place. The instructions didn't mention that, but it was easy enough to figure out.
Overall, I'm really happy with it. I'm pushing it considerably harder than its rated load, riding it in South Texas summer heat, and actually using it as transportation rather than just occasionally riding around the neighborhood. So far it's handled that surprisingly well.
