My experience with Ride1Up Portola, including a dead battery issue and customer support

I bought two Ride1Up bikes. I really like how they ride and they're very easy to fold up and throw in the trunk or in the back of our camper.

Recently one of the batteries became bricked. Both bikes/batteries were used, stored, and charged the same way—proper temperature, no overcharging, no over-discharging. My SO's battery works fine. Mine died suddenly with a 80% charge after 50 miles. Tested the charger on her bike, it works. So it's definitely my battery.

Contacted support. They blamed storage degradation and lithium aging. I explained that doesn't match a sudden complete failure, and asked for at least a partial discount as a repeat ($2K+) customer. They refused and wouldn't escalate because it was past warranty. Now I'm out $350 for a replacement battery.

Just sharing my experience. I know others have had a great experience but have also read about some with this same battery issue. This post is just to show that even two Portolas used and charged in almost the exact same way can have a battery failure.

Another weird thing: I tried leaving an honest review on their site but it won't let me submit it. Seems like their review tool is broken.
