Fender bender - other party is claiming bodily injury and requesting settlement with my insurance company
Had the most minor accident the other day where the other party wanted me to give him $400 to fix the “damages” to his car, when i said I’d rather go through insurance / file an accident report with the police, they wanted to drop everything. At that point the cops were already on their way and i had a feeling they were trying to scam me for $400
The man in the other vehicle was walking around, drove his car out of traffic and was fine before the police came. As soon as they come, immediately starts complaining about back pain and an ambulance had to come. Now they’ve retained a lawyer for an insurance settlement for his medical bills.
I honestly think this guys a crock of shit but how do i go about this? All of this will go through my insurance company, but my insurance also said if they deny their settlement the other party can sue me within 2 years. Smh!! I don’t know what to do!! This is my fist accident and i am so thankful it was such a very minor one, but now i feel like there’s this dark cloud over me for the foreseeable future.
