Hello, I was gifted this DB10 .308 and don't know the history or anything about guns for precision.

I tried to zero it the other dav at 100 yds but my shots were all over the place. I found this after I brought it home and wanted to know if i just need to put more elbow grease in cleaning the crown? Or do I need to get it machined for better accuracy?
