Realistic available parking after 8:30am

I’m looking for available parking lots or garages near the Capitol that still open after 8:30am. I’ve been taking the light rail from Roseville road to archives station for my office days since RTO implemented in July. resulting in an additional commute time. And because I have to drop my kids off at school at 7:45, I don’t get into downtown until 8:30, I assumed there is no available parking downtown near the Capitol after 8am so Ive used the light rail since. so I’m just curious if there was a solution so I can drive in again. plus a homeless man’s dog took a shit on the light rail on the way home yesterday and we had to just sit with it until they got on to clean it. I’m just over it.

I said it

I ran into a coworker in office (whom I actually enjoy chopping it up with) and after our brief convo about our new seating arrangements, right before we parted ways, I said “good to see you.” unintentionally, it just came out so easy. take my ass home now 😔

Testing the light rail for RTO. Walked into a fight.

I have been testing out the light rail in preparation for RTO only for my 2nd time riding it to walk into two homeless men fighting brutally. one got off and i thought he left but he went in a different train because he left his bike. two stops later they’re throwing hands again. it’s such a shame that they promote public transportation as an option when the trains are never clean and things like this happen often. I used to take the light rail every day prior to Covid and on occasion I was stared down, cat called and harassed and i was thrilled when I no longer had to take it when we wfh. not to mention having to transport my work laptop with me. last Friday when I took the light rail I found a crack pipe right in front of the station. so many parking spaces at the Roseville road station has broken car glass too

(the video was their second go at fighting)

How is your dept handling rto?

With July 1 approaching fast, I’m just curious how everyone’s department is handling it. if you’ve gotten direction on which days you’re coming in? Which cubes? Does it feel like a shit show too?

Caltrans parking for RTO

For downtown HQ, we were offered 4 parking spots (a month) at our DOT TOT lot for free, reserved as first come first serve through the App Space app. we just received an email that they are now reducing that to 2 parking spots a month. granted this is more than what most downtown offices are offering but still. they also noted that two more lots will be available through an application. however one lot is only for executive staff and the other lot already has a long wait list so they’re not even accepting applications. I thought this memo would provide additional help to the parking crisis, yet I was wrong.

Full parking garages by 7:15a

the fact that the dgs parking structures (DGS-Managed Garage Lot 24 to be exact) is already full by 7:15 is absolutely garbage. we haven’t even started the RTO 4 days and it’s they expect us all to take the garbage light rail.

DOT RTO

just got an email from upper management that they’ll be enforcing the 4 day RTO July 1. further info to come when we meet. I doubt we have the office space. no further info or logistics. pretty lame.
