Litter box placement for my fellow apartment dwellers! 😻 I want to share what works for me.

Maybe this is helpful or maybe not but I just want to share my set up. Keep in mind that my cat has cerebellar hypoplasia, so what works for us might not work for everyone.

I don't love the idea of the litter box out in the open in common spaces, and I don't have a separate laundry room. My W/D is just kind of nestled in a cupboard-situation. Growing up, we kept the litter boxes in the bathrooms, but I always thought that was kind of icky with the shower steam.

I am lucky to have plenty of storage in the bedroom closets and each bathroom has a linen/storage closet as well, so I decided to utilize the hall closet for my baby's bathroom.

I bought one of these cat door stopper things off of Amazon. Also, I am a person who hates scooping, so I buy pet waste bags (for the inside out pick up method) and toss them in the litter genie anytime he goes "big potty."

I have a silicone mat with a lip underneath to catch any leaks (protect that deposit) as well as a washable pad as a little rug for his feet. I previously used regular pee pads on top of the silicone, before I got the washable one.

Lastly, I am the biggest advocate for the Tidy Cats Breeze system. I had never heard of it before adopting my very wobbly boy but I'm sure it would be just as effective for able-bodied cats. There's virtually no smell and no scooping.

I still think this would be an excellent placement for a traditional litter box, if you don't need the storage for anything else.

PS, don't come for me for the cat tax at the end. He's not starving. He's just waiting patiently for his auto-feeder to drop breakfast.

Hopefully this helps someone!
