My Audi
A couple of days ago I became the proud owner of a 2014 Audi A5 2.0 TDI Quattro, and overall I’m absolutely happy with the car. It’s been one of my dream cars for a long time, and I’m really enjoying driving it.
I’ve heard that Reddit is a great place to learn from other owners’ experiences and get answers to questions like these, so I thought I’d ask here.
The car has just over 102,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I discovered after buying it that there is no proper service history. The only paperwork I have is a document showing that it was serviced at an Audi dealership at around 100,000 miles, along with the dealer’s code, but it doesn’t say what work was actually carried out.
Because of that, I have no idea:
when the engine oil was last changed;
whether the S tronic gearbox oil has ever been changed;
whether the Quattro drivetrain (if applicable) has been serviced;
or whether the timing chain has ever been replaced.
Is there any way to find out what was done during that last dealer service? Can an Audi dealer look up the service records using the VIN, or is that information no longer available?
Also, if you were in my position, what maintenance would you do immediately for peace of mind? I’d rather spend some money now than risk expensive repairs later.
I really care about keeping this car in excellent condition while I own it, so I’d appreciate any advice from experienced Audi owners.
Thanks in advance!
