FTC 101 - Complete Starter Guide for New & Beginner FTC Teams
Hi r/FTC,
We just finished creating FTC 101 — a detailed starter guide made specifically for new and beginner FTC teams.
After going through our own first few seasons and helping other new teams, we decided to put everything important in one place so new teams don’t have to struggle as much as we did.
What’s inside the guide:
- FIRST Mission, Core Values & Gracious Professionalism explained clearly
- All FTC Awards (Inspire, Think, Innovate, Control, Design, etc.) with what judges actually look for
- Hardware Basics (Control Hub, Expansion Hub, Driver Station)
- Drivetrain Types Comparison (Tank, Mecanum, Swerve, X-Drive, etc. with pros & cons)
- Blocks Programming examples (TeleOp + simple Autonomous)
- Engineering Notebook & Portfolio tips (very detailed)
- Scouting strategies and Alliance Selection advice
- Outreach & Sustainability ideas (important for Inspire)
- Judging Presentation tips + common questions
- Golden rules + most common mistakes new teams make
The guide is completely free and made by Asteria Robotics #32334.
You can download it here: https://linktr.ee/asteria.32334
After opening the link, click FTC 101
We hope this helps many new teams have a smoother and more successful first season.
Feedback is very welcome! Which part should we expand in the future?
Good luck to everyone this upcoming season!
