1 month post op - are these dog ears or lats?

1 month post op - are these dog ears or lats?

Maybe I’m just overthinking things and maybe it’s just the angle of the photo/my body that makes things look strange to me. I’ve never seen anyone with peri have dog ears but I’m wondering if that’s what this looks like? Or is it just my lats, or maybe swelling?

Wet to dry dressings are really hurting - advice?

Had gyno surgery and the incision opened up. My surgeon suggested wet to dry, but if I’m being honest, it’s really been hurting since the area is sensate. Plus, every time I remove the gauze the area bleeds and I feel like it’s peeling off some of my tissue.

I think I’ll try asking my surgeon for an alternative at my next post op, but that’s not until two weeks. The pain is really frustrating and is really bothering me. I wonder if anyone has any advice as to what could help in the meanwhile?

A friend suggested using water to loosen the gauze during dressing changed and that’s maybe helped a tiny bit. Before the wet to dry, my surgeon had me using neosporin and non-woven gauze and that also was less painful. But, the woven gauze that I’m currently using - a nightmare. I feel like I can feel it peeling off my skin.

I have some xeroform around, but I wonder if this is a wound that looks like it needs to be packed since there’s some open space? I know wounds are supposed to stay moist, but I really cannot handle this wet to dry dressing. It feels agonizing. Thoughts/advice?

TW (Gore): How long will this wound separation likely take to heal?

Have reached out to surgeon and am instructed to place wet to dry dressings. Curious if anyone else has experienced wound separation like this, and if so - how long did it take to heal?

Called my surgeon’s answering service and waiting for her to get back to me, but tbh if I don’t get a response in an hour, I might go to the ER.

Just feels really unlucky, on top of the complications I’ve already been having. Idk how this even happened - I was sleeping and woke up to the pop of the bulb inflating.

11 days post op and just saw my surgeon yesterday. Drains have never leaked until now.

Had some minor bleeding after the post op appt (surgeon stripped the drain and tried aspirating a hematoma). I think she may have pushed the drain in a little more as well, because I felt a sharp pain at the appointment. After the appt, my drain output skyrocketed from 10ml to 25ish. I also began having more pain and nearly unbearable itchiness near the drain site.

Fast forward to today and as I’m about to sleep, I can feel blood running past the drain site. It’s gotten all over my pillows. I’m a bit surprised because this hasn’t happened before and it looks like stitches are intact. I’m stripping the drains consistently, and trying to keep the area clean.

I plan to call my surgeon as soon as her office opens, but has anyone else dealt with anything similar? Is some oozing/leaking normal?

I am feeling anxious because this is my second peri top surgery. In the first, my surgeon left too much tissue on both sides (>30 grams, ~a cups), with more tissue left in the right. I had a second top surgery a week ago with the same surgeon. I’m really liking how the left side turned out but I’m so stressed and anxious that this is a repeat situation (where excess tissue is left on the right side) and that I might need another (third) revision.

Is it too early to tell whether this is excess tissue versus swelling/hematoma? I know the standard is to wait 6 months - 1 year, esp for peri, before swelling goes down, but I’m feeling especially anxious since the left is perfectly fine compared to the right.

Thoughts?
