When I caught a shiny alpha Torterra last year, I decided that I wanted to hunt for the shiny alpha Sinnoh starters. Since I was hunting for a shiny Magnemite/Magneton in the Cobalt Coastlands, I checked all the static alphas in that area while I waited for a distortion.

But even though I got a shiny Magnemite after hunting for it for 1 year, Empoleon never shined. That changed last week when I started going to the Coastlands just for Walrein and Empoleon, because it shined after just 30 minutes of map checks.

So I tried the same strategy in the Obsidian Fieldlands and it took me almost a full week (played 30-60 minutes every day) to finally get a shiny alpha Infernape.

I got this shiny 1 week ago. This shiny alpha never appeared when I was hunting for a shiny Magnemite/Magneton, so I decided to hunt it and it paid off because I got it after 30 minutes.

I haven't played since I caught it, but I'm going to continue with my Porygon/Porygon2 shiny hunt.

Caught this shiny alpha last week in a massive mass outbreak.

I also started shiny hunting again for a shiny Porygon/Porygon 2/Porygon-Z in the Crimson Mirelands. Hoping that I can get another shiny Porygon soon.
