Am I too late to pursue the idea of becoming a Digital Nomad in my 50s?
Hi this is my first post. After seeing almost 4.5 million followers in this community, I'm not feeling so hopeful...
I’m mid-fifties and was diagnosed with Audhd in March.
During adventures, I’ve met numerous digital nomads and they sold me the lifestyle!
I was an advanced level foster carer for over a decade. I have gained a plethora of certificates, but I am aware they don't equate to professional qualifications.
I have a 20 year history in libraries, both public and academic. I gained an NC (National Certificate) in Working in Libraries years ago which included English Communications 4 (12th Grade). I classified and catalogued all my books as a child. I was nine at the time and loved having my own library to keep in order.
My adult sons were diagnosed after me (same nod to autism from different assessors). They are avid Runescape players which I notice has a high level of neurodivergent followers. We love puzzles and notice patterns etc. I could do quadratic equations as a teen but that's as far as I got with maths before dropping out half way through S5 (11th grade) when school became too much.
I have begun learning Python with Mike on FreeCodeCamp.org and I'm finding it pretty easy so far. I have also looked into AI annotation, hoping I could do this as a sideline, as I'm aware it is unreliable work. Please don't judge me on my annotation skills here, I know my entries would have to be perfect!
If I type anything like above into AI, it gushes at me that I've got the skills and background to do this, yada yada yada. Even Claude has given me the perfect timeline and study plan for learning Python, SQL etc.
However, I am a pragmatic realist and would rather have honest insight from any of you knowledgeable coders out there.
TL;DR: 56 year-old AuDHD female in Scotland with a 20 year background in libraries and 11 years in fostering. Hoping to become a digital nomad in a reasonable timeframe. AI flatters me and tells me I can. What are my chances realistically?
