Dr. Bones to Dr. Grey: "i protecc."

House of Smeeg continues to harbor illegal criminals under suspicious of cuteness and failure to thrive. Baby Dr. Grey is finally managing to gain weight though! It took about a week of roller-coaster weights, then a vet visit for B12, panacur, Clavamox (round 2), sub-q fluids, and general checkup, during which his development was called "suspicious" for indications of birth defects that might hamper his growth. Then we came home and did much more stringent feeding rules, including 3am sub-q fluids again and subsequent tube feeding. Now, however, he seems to have perked up and is latching well! So happy!

Brand new sentence from feeding time last night, a la my husband: "Don't treat him like a soft serve!" (Dr. Grey was pooping and I was holding him over the small trash can to catch it, and admittedly was a bit high on painkillers due to a tooth problem, so I started... making little swirls as the poop piled up.)

Two tiny newborns were rejected by their mama so they have come to the House of Smeeg for care and attention.

This is the tiny gray one. There's a tiny striped tabby, too. No names or sex yet - too smol! Smeeg is absolutely disgusted that my attention is being taken by these screaming demons smaller than her paw.

The three older kittens are picky eaters, as is their mama. Wet food - Fancy Feast, KMR slurry, and Iams kitten singles - have all been ignored or sniffed and ignored. They prefer the dry food. Silly kittens.

Tao's kittens are about 4 weeks old, so this little one is much smaller and needier. Luckily for my sleep, Tao is being a wonderful adoptive mama! Poor baby Bao was surrendered as a lone orphan with a badly infected dime-sized hole in his neck and the start of a URI. He's on antibiotics and gaining weight like a tubby champion!
