CMM job interview about GD&T

I believe GD&T is one of the key topics in a CMM job interview. However, in the two interviews I attended earlier this year, the conversations were usually led by HR or the GM, and they tended to focus mostly on general questions—like the most challenging time in my career or what I’ve learned from difficult situations.

I’m curious—what kind of GD&T questions have you been asked?

Iterative alignment with 30 degrees angle between A1 A2 and A3

PC-DMIS, In my setup, datum A consists of A1, A2, and A3, where A1 and A2 are approximately 30° relative to A3. Datum B is a circle, and datum C is a round slot.

Currently, The program uses a best-fit alignment with about five points to establish a rough Car coordinate alignment. then apply iterative alignment using A (3 points), circle B, and slot C. However, I consistently encounter error messages during this process.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to improve the stability of the iterative alignment or if there is a better approach for this type of datum

Building an AI-Driven Personalized Learning System for Advanced Math Students

My son is a gifted Grade 5 boy. He has a strong interest in math and has already received training that puts him about two years ahead of his grade level. He plans to participate in the AMC 8 next January, and he took the Gauss 7 exam last April.

After I uploaded his test paper to an AI system and set a learning goal, the AI generated a structured weekly study plan based on his available time. The plan includes learning through videos—primarily from YouTube—along with short lessons focused on specific subtopics. It then provides mini-tests, and based on his performance and feedback, it adapts and organizes the next stage of learning.

If an app powered by an AI agent could be built around this process, with fast feedback loops, I believe it could significantly accelerate a student’s learning curve. Given that I have some programming experience but limited knowledge of AI, I am wondering whether it is feasible for me to build such an app and, if so, how I should begin.

Fixture Calibration Standards and Recovery Methods

I am currently working in an automotive parts manufacturing plant where many of our fixtures are based on the vehicle coordinate system, typically using three tooling balls.

I would like to ask if there are any standard practices, guidelines, or procedures that I could follow for fixture calibration. The fixtures I am working with are approximately 1 m × 2 m and are referenced by tooling balls or holes.

Additionally, in cases where fixture calibration fails or when tooling balls are replaced or damaged, I would like guidance on how to accurately recalculate the tooling axis locations.

Any recommendations, references, or best practices you can share would be greatly appreciated.
