Upcycled coasters with leftover tiles.

A few days ago I asked for some suggestions for tile layout. I finished it. This is how the end polished coasters are looking like. I love the way they turned out. And im also so glad I used up the left over tiles.

Thanks for this communicty that helped me pick the patterns and shared ways to brighten the natural color and polishing methods for the tiles. Added the end result and pictures of the planning phase.

Need opinion.

Beginner here.

Had some left over tiles from another project. Thought of giving my old wooden coasters a glow up.

I ran out of the small green tiles. Only have white small ones left over. Don't have a tile cutter. Which of the designs from the white tile placements look the best?

How to bring shine to marble tiles.

Hi everyone,

This is a diy small indoor project involving marble tiles, to learn so I can later take on bigger project. I am posting here as I see there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who might be able to help me. If this is not the right place, mods feel free to remove this(i hope it doesn't come to that though).

I am working on this small table with marble tiles. I am looking for methods, products ways that I can bring shine and hold the vibrant color of the marble tiles.

I have cleaned the tiles in general to take off the dust. I like the vibrancy of the tiles when it's wet and a bit shiny. But as soon as it dries, the tile go back to their dull, non-shiny status. How do I ensure that the tiles remain shiny and vibrant.

Here's my plan so far:

- clean tiles with sponge and water(done).

- seal the tiles before grouting (idk what sealant though) need help here.

- grouting.

-after grouting, are there any steps that will make the tiles shine, without the grout damage?

Added pictures for reference.

Pic 1-before cleaning off.

Pic 2- after cleaning off with water and sponge. This is the shine and vibrancy i want to achieve.

Pic 3- to demonstrate the difference when the tiles is wet with water(vibrant and shiny) vs after it dries (dull).

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Seeking Material advice on my first real project.

I have previously done some small mosaic projects, but I am now trying my first attempt at a seriously big(in my context) project. I want it to be done in a way that it lasts in the long run and I need your expert guidance in seeking the right materials.

Inspiration: https://pin.it/4OqK1X7p5 the pattern will be like this, but with marble tiles.

I have this wooden bed-breakfast table: https://www.ikea.com/nl/en/p/resgods-bed-tray-bamboo-30444468/

I found just the right tiles for my mosaic project.

Before we move on, I have a question: Do you think this table is suitable for a project with marble materials, if this table is too light for a marble heavy design?

I have picked the following items:

Jade 20mm to be places in straight format, spaced by 2mm tile spacers.

Small tiles for the border: to be placed in alternating color.

Jade 10mm

Pink 10mm

I need assistance with the following:

  1. Picking the correct glue suitable for marble and table material

  2. Grout(colored or pigment to add to base grout matching the tiles). Do I need to worry about staining the marble?

  3. Sealant? Although I will be using the tray indoors, I would like to make it in a way that thorough occasional cleaning is possible, such as with wet wipes.

  4. Is there any way to buff the tiles before/after completion of the project to give the marble tiles a smooth finish?

Help a girl out. Thanks in advance.

Human with Cat allergy, need advice.

So my(F33, CF with partner) beloved cat passed away 3 years ago due to a saddle thrombosis. I really miss my baby every single day. I would love to have a furry friend once again and with the hopes to make their every single day worth, that they chose me as their human.

Around that same year I also found out that I am allergic to "furry animals like Cats and Dogs" (The GP's words not mine). I also am allergic to pollen, grass and dust. And when I have a reaction, it's usually very aggravating, I'm talking itching, hives like eczema, watery eyes, nose, burning throat and sinus, the works. Not pleasant.

Not sure if any of that matters, but the point is I am allergic to cats/dogs and i really would love to have a furry family with a cat as well as dog(at some point).

My question is what are my options to work around this allergy. With my cat when she was still around, we gave her specific food that reduces the allergy inducing protein. But I would like to know more ways that I can permanently manage the allergy on my side. If there are any measures, I'd preferably would like it to be covered in my health insurance. Based in Zuid Holland. Please help a girl out.

Mods, if this is not the right channel, I'd be happy to take my question else where. Thanks!!

Beginner: how to use E-file?

I love doing my own nails. The part about a manicure, the most important part is to clean the cuticles. For my birthday, my husband got me a nice E-filer of 40K RPM to add to my Nail kit.

I have been thinking of starting to use an e-file, but never really looked seriously into it. Now that I have one, I want to start doing it myself. But I am scared of burning and cutting myself. I need to understand bits more. I watched some videos on YT. But I am yet quite scared to start doing it myself. What should I do to get started with doing my own nails.

Currently I have gel nails(3 weeks out) that need to be redone. I also bit into my cuticles sometimes, that gives me cuts, and I have one right now, that is also discouraging me from using the e-file. Please help.

Road trip from Sofia to Varna/Banya. Suggestions needed.

Hi everyone,

I have been invited to attend a friend's wedding in Banya. We are planning to fly to Sofia and drive down. After the wedding we have to take our return flight from Sofia. We were hoping to take the chance to visit some places that's in between the route. We wouldn't mind doing a slight detour as long as the roads are manageable(also wondering how the road system is in comparison to western europe).

We are 3 friends in our mid 30s. Looking for suggestions to do some stop overs in towns/places. We love learning about different cultures, scenic beauty, natural landscapes. Any suggestions will be very much welcome. Thanks in advance!!

Edit:

Thanks everybody for your responses. You have convinced me to just take a plane to Varna instead of driving cross country. Also I did not know there were Multiple places named Banya. Sorry I should have been more clear. It's Banya near Sunny Beach on the east coast.

We are planning to fly to Varna, drive to Banya and back. Stay in Varna for a few days. Would love to do day trips if anything close by. And would love suggestions on what to do in Varna. And what food/restaurants are a must try. Thanks in advance.

New nails set. And need Hand-care routine suggestions.

Got myself a new set of Biab, in glassy chrome. Loving it how it turned out.

But while taking the pictures I noticed, my hands look so aged. I'm 33F. Girlies, please share your hand routine to achieve, moisturised plump look on hands.

My current routine every night:

- Glycerine + rose water 1:1mix

- O.P.I cuticle oil(miracle product for cuticles, recommend)

So please help your girlie make her hand care routine to achieve the plump healthy smooth skin look. Thanks!!
