Looking for recommendations

First timer to Dublin, traveling there in about 3 weeks. I'm specifically looking for pubs with trad where locals hang out. I've been told there are no Irish people in the pubs in Temple Bar, (and besides its even more expensive there than Dublin already is) so I don't plan on hanging out there. I've been told the best local pubs are on Camden St or Harcourt St., but those seem quite a ways from where I'm staying (across the street from Christchurch Cathedral). Any recommendations near there, or maybe on the north side of the Liffey? Thanks.

Advice on Dublin City bus routes and fares

In doing research for our July trip to Ireland (first timers), I have come across so much confusing--and frankly often contradictory information. So I joined this sub in hope of some answers from people who really know.

  1. What is the best, cheapest city bus (I don't want an express coach as I've heard they are much more expensive) route from Dublin Airport that will get us nearest Christchurch Cathedral? Our hotel is right across the street from Christchurch Cathedral.
  2. We will be staying in the city centre only the first night, before heading west. We will only use the city busses twice, once from Dublin Airport, and the next day from our hotel to the rental car location at 39 Old Kilmainham Rd Kilmainham, Dublin 8, IRL, DUB. Any recommendations on the best city bus route for that second trip?
  3. Can we get the TFI 90 minute fare from the airport? How long will that first ride take?
  4. What's the best way to pay for the bus ride the next day?

Apologies if these are dumb questions.

PS I've been told that hotel concierges know this stuff and are very helpful. I hope that's true, and if worst comes to worst I'll ask them.

Thank you!
