Is holness a set back for the culture?
The pnp introduced Marcus garvey's teaching in all 1010 schools in Jamaica in 2012. In 2016 jlp took power and from 2016 to 2022 the enforcement to continue teaching Garvey philosophies weren't there. By the time Fayval Williams looked there were only 93 schools actively teaching Garvey. Since then and now the government states 584 schools are teaching him. But I have to ask why the government let the program dwindle in the first place, they are a little more than half of what the one did during their last time in power. I noticed that China and other Asian countries have grown and become economic beasts while having underlying philosophies of Confucius and humanistic Buddhism respectively.i feel the underlying philosophy is more important the whatever economic engine you want to place on top of it and I felt embracing garveyism is the beginning of that for Jamaica. Holness is a good economic manager but at times feels he is willing to leave the culture behind for economic progress which eventually would lead to looking like the west where they no longer know who they are while the money is drying up.
