Two months in Gwalior, and honestly I think the biggest thing holding this city back isn’t the government the roads or the infrastructure it’s the mentality of some of the people here
Sometimes it genuinely feels like a section of Gwl is still living 10–20 years in the past. The mindset, the unnecessary interference in other people’s lives, and the way people stare at completely normal things can be genuinely frustrating. One day I was simply out with a female friend, minding our own business, and people were staring at us like they had just witnessed something extraordinary. And then there’s the attitude on the roads. Once I was stopped at a red light when someone came from behind and hit my vehicle. I thought, “It happens, no big deal,” but instead of apologising, the guy actually started arguing with me. Somehow, the person who caused the accident had more attitude than the person who got hit. And today, I was coming back on a Rapido when the driver crashed into a car, and because of the impact, I ended up spraining my leg. His name is Ravi Yadav, btw, and he’s a very reckless driver, so please be careful if you ever get him. And that’s what frustrates me about Gwl. The city itself has a lot of potential, but sometimes it feels like its own people are one of the biggest things holding it back. You can improve infrastructure and bring development, but changing a regressive mentality is a completely different challenge. Obviously, not everyone here is like this. I’ve met some genuinely amazing and welcoming people too. But unfortunately, I’ve had enough negative experiences in just two months to form this opinion. If I didn’t have to stay here because of clg, I honestly don’t think I’d choose to live in Gwl.
