My parents apparently registered me in Mexico when I was a kid… I had NO idea. What do I do now?

I was born in California and both of my parents were born in Mexico. I recently started asking them for their documents because I wanted to look into dual citizenship, and my mom casually tells me they already registered me in Mexico when I was little. She found an old Mexican birth certificate with my name on it, but that’s literally all I have. I’ve never had a Mexican passport, INE or anything else and I honestly didn’t even know this document existed. So now I’m confused… am I already considered a Mexican citizen and I’ve basically been one this whole time? Do I just need to get a current copy of the acta and figure out the CURP/passport from there, or is there something I’m supposed to verify first? Really don’t want to accidentally register myself twice or mess something up. Anyone else discover they were already registered years later?
