“gap year”

I’ve decided to take a “gap year” so i can focus on things I want to; I’ll still going to take a couple college classes through my community college but I really need to prioritize work and focus on other things like i might do this program abroad in winter which I wouldn’t be able to through western, but anyways am i making a huge mistake? I 100% intend to earn my bachelors degree (and hopefully beyond) I just don’t think western has the best program for my major and If I go to cc i’ll have a better chance at getting in to the program I want at uw + other schools, has anyone else done something similar, or gone to cc for a year then came back to western? I feel like im going backwards right now but for my specific situation, this is the solution that gives me the best chance + “quality of life”, its really only the social scene i’d miss + campus life, I just feel like a lowkey failure for not going back to western - also any advice on how to officially dropout/withdraw, ive withdrawn from my classes but how does dorming / general studentary work? Do i actually need to tell anyone im not coming back?

Transfer (retaking classes)

I wanted to see if anyone on here has personal experience with this on here cause I was wondering if anyone knows specifically for transfer admissions how they view someone who failed a class at a 4 year uni, then retook the equivalent at a community college to replace it, does that replace it in their mind or is it still seen as a fail, since both transcripts from both schools will be sent in I’m just wondering how they view it/gpa wise, I will definitely ask my transfer counselors and all that but just wanted to ask yall too :) thanks!

Transfer

i feel like such a chud right now i just got my decision back, I know I had a low chance anyways (from a 4 year college low gpa) but still im crushed. My major at my current schools program sucks and uw is full and luscious and funded and beautiful and my dream and i really am not looking forward to coming back to my current school next fall. I’m taking summer classes at uw so maybe that will help cause ill probably apply for winter. I know why they rejected me but like WHYYYYY, i dont really need like consolation or ppl saying uw isnt everything and all that, i just need to like be heard right now i guess and any advice for applying again (besides get your gpa up and all that)

Hi all, I'm patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for transfer decisions to come out (Timeline May 1-June 30th), and I'm trying to stay on top of everything; "New first-year, new transfer, and continuing students 9-month and 12-month housing starting at 2pm on May 4, 2026." I'm wondering if any past transfer students have been able to register for housing before being excepted first, housing is very important to me, and getting it as soon as possible is ideal, I haven't looked for any roommates yet cause I didn't want to find someone then not be accepted which makes me feel even more behind. It's just without an offical acceptance yet I'm worried the portal won't let me through, I was able to do the little pre-registration through my net-id. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or thoughts. I know there is not much I can do about these things and should probably stop worrying but I can't help it,, Thanks for any comments!!

I'm looking into minors and Paleobiology seems very interesting. I've always been intereseted in paleontology. I'm a Human Evolutionary Biology Anthropology major, and it seems to have some good overlapping classes due to it's focus on evolution. (I'm not particulary interested in archaeology tho), but I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this / what are the classes like, I love everything evolution and prehistoric but im worried about the more digging in the dirt side / geology side of things as well, which I don't dislike but I just havent academically experienced before. Thanks!
