I've read that under current Thai laws, you need a medical prescription for cannabis and must be 20 or older. I'm traveling to Koh Samui soon (May 29 – June 6, staying near Coral Cove Beach), and I'll be 19 at the time. My friends are all 20+.

I'm not planning to break any rules, but I'm just trying to understand how strictly the age + prescription rules are actually enforced on the island – especially for tourists. Would shops check both age and prescription documents? Is there any real risk for someone under 20 even if they're not the one buying?

I'd rather sit something out than cause problems, but my friends think it's fine. Any honest, up-to-date advice from locals or recent visitors would be really helpful. Thanks.
