Before the release of Forza Motorsport, Fiat produced special Xbox editions of their new Fiat Punto and Fiat Stilo car models sold exclusively in the UK (and maybe Europe?). The models featured some minor Xbox branding inside but were pretty standard other than that.

To promote it, they ran a competition where you could play the Forza Motorsport demo at the dealership and try to set a hot lap time. If you set the fastest time across all the UK car dealers, you could win an Xbox console and a copy of Forza Motorsport.

They sent out these fake "Test Driver 2005" game boxes to previous Fiat buyers advertising the promotion, which included a letter from each dealership and a booklet showing off the Xbox editions of the Fiat Punto and Stilo models.

Definitely one of the rarer promotional items I've picked up!

It's taken years of hunting, but finally added these 3 PAL promotional copies to the collection in the last couple of months. Destroy All Humans is sealed as well!

I'm not sure why these are so rare compared to the other rarer promos, as these were from EA/THQ rather than small publishers, so not exactly short of money for their marketing budgets.

I think there were 103 promo copies with covers (a lot were just DVDs in a jewel case), so I'm down to just 7 left to find now 😀

Here's another couple of collections I've been adding to, for the Japanese Xbox exclusive games Metal Wolf Chaos and Braveknight. I've had the games in my collection for a while, but recently found some promotional items for them as well.

Metal Wolf Chaos is a mech combat game, one of the early titles made by From Software of Dark Souls fame:

• Sound track CD
• Paper craft kit to make one of the mechs from the game

Braveknight is a visual novel game with some light JRPG elements:

• Sound track CD
• Character Guide Books 1 & 2: These include concept art and sketches for the various characters in the game
• Dinner placemat: This is only one of these I've ever seen, definitely an unusual collectible!

This is one of the more unusual promotional items I've picked up from Japan recently! The listing I bought said it was a letter rack/caddy with spaces for remote controls on the back.

I haven't been able to find out much else about it, but I guess it was probably given away at Tokyo Game Show 2001, or maybe at retailers for pre-ordering a console.

If anyone else knows more I'd love to know!

It's been a while since I shared what I've been collecting recently, I figured a few people might be interested in some of the more unusual items.

First up are some Japanese promotional items for Ninja Gaiden. These were offered up as preorder/purchase bonuses for the game release:

- The History of Ninja: A look back at the games Team Ninja had worked on up until Ninja Gaiden

- Branded carabiner: I don't know why either

- Ayane figurine

- 300 piece jigsaw puzzle of Ayane
