First time water fasting - so nausious!

Hello everyone! Female, 30 years old, 170 cm, 80 kgs.

It's my first time doing water fasting.

I did my preparation days 2 days before and then switched to full water fasting. Day 1 and 2 went by fine. I felt a little nausious here and there throughout the day on day 2, but not too bad. On day 3 however... Gosh it hit me like a rock. I woke up around 10/11:00 am and now it's 04:00 pm. I'm feeling weak when walking, and especially on hills and stairs. I have this constant nausia which goes in waves.

It's worth to mention I've had this nausious feeling here and there because of a prolonged use of antibiotics a few years ago. However, it's never been this bad.

I've taken my electrolytes, some liquid vitamins, cordyceps and lion's mane.

My plan is doing 14 days.

The reasons I'm fasting is:

  1. Lose weight for my overall health and my best friend's wedding. I need to fit into our traditional national dress here in Norway.

  2. My mum's cancer might be back. Not sure yet. So I'm trying out water fasting as a test for her as it's been said it might help cure some sorts of cancers. Seeing me do it and learning how to do it best might motivate her to try it too. (We both love food.)

I lost 20 kgs with calorie restriction and working out in 2023. Original weight was 90 kgs and I went down to 70 kgs.

I found calorie restriction and measuring extremely difficult and not something that's easily kept in normal day to day life.

Gained 10 kgs back in 2025 due to boyfriend tax, so I was 80 kgs before I started this fast.

To sum it up: Motivation is extra big to pull through this.

Any advice from other people who have done water fasting for extended periods of time and struggled with really bad nausia?

PS: Tea is roiboos and Cordyceps. Not coffee!

Thanks in advance!
