3 Lyric Translation Posters for my fantasy symbolic language, A Palanvara.

Hey everyone. Sharing more of my fantasy symbolic language, A Palanvara, which was the focus of my last two projects during my MA in Graphic Design. Each word comprises one symbol.

Each symbol was drawn with a drawing tablet onto a Photoshop 1000x1000px square, and then vectorized in Illustrator.

If anyone likes these enough to have, I do sell files and prints. Custom commissions for your own lyric posters are also a possibility of just reach out here or on my Instagram @cellasart.

Here is the link to the project and the full posters:

Asemic-Symbolic Letterforms Guide & Exploration

Hello everyone! I've posted here and some other subreddits before on my symbolic counting system. It received some good attention and sparked some fun conversation, so I've decided to add some more detail on how I create these vectors from simple sketches.

About Me

I'm a graphic design MA graduate based in Manchester, and for the final project of my course I began to look at symbolic language systems, designing a fantasy-inspired symbolic language called A Palanvara.

I graduated my course with Distinction, and earned an award from Manchester Metropolitan University for experimental graphic design in honour of my great late tutor, John Walsh. His PhD which is yet to be released coined the term "Graphicology" — pushing for a defined and legitimate academic practice on the study of symbols.

Since graduating I have put work on A Palanvara on hold and have been experimenting with Asemic Writing — writing without meaning, creating letterforms that look like a language, without worrying or concerning myself with what it might mean.

This exploration led me to play with what I've been calling Asemic-Symbolic Writing, slowing down the motion of traditional Asemic Writing techniques to form glyphs and symbols that feel alien and meaningful without meaning much at all.

If anyone would like to see any more of my work or discuss it I would welcome it below. I'm having a lot of fun and you can check my symbolic journey over on @cellasart.
