Failed : Failed to pre-process the job Error: Blockset blocks immutability mismatch. Failed to delete cloud storage

Still getting the Blockset blocks immutability Error, even after upgrading to 13.1.1.18. I read there is a patch that fixes the problem but I can't find it on the official Veeam Page...

Does anybody have a link to the Patch?

Veeam Best Practice for medium sized companies

Hi everyone,

I've been reading through the Veeam Architects documentation and recommendations, and I'm currently trying to figure out what a good Veeam best-practice setup for a typical medium-sized company would look like in 2026.

My current approach would be something like this:

  • One dedicated physical server running the Veeam Software Appliance for backup management and orchestration.
  • One separate physical server running the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance, acting as a local hardened/immutable backup repository.
  • Additional cloud object storage from a provider as an offsite backup target.
  • Configure Veeam SureBackup to regularly test backups and verify recoverability.

From my understanding, this should give us a solid 3-2-1-1-0 backup strategy with local backups, an immutable copy, an offsite/cloud copy, and automated recovery verification.

In the past, we often used rotating external USB hard drives as an additional offline/offsite copy. However, from what I've read, rotating USB drives no longer seem to be the preferred approach in Veeam's current recommendations.

I am interested in hearing what other admin's would consider current best practice

Quick Question about rotating drives as Repository

Hi everyone,

I have a Veeam backup job configured with the “This repository is backed by rotated drives” option.
The customer is supposed to regularly swap between two different external USB hard drives. Is there a way to verify in Veeam whether the drives are actually being exchanged, rather than the same USB drive remaining connected all the time?

Can I see the drive changes somewhere in the job history, session logs, repository information, or Windows event logs? Ideally, I would like to identify the individual drives by their serial number, volume ID, or another unique identifier and check when each drive was last used.

Thanks in advance!
