Inflorescence
My first flower!!!! 😍🥹🤩 I wasn't sure what the pods were until someone mentioned it here yesterday. Peeked again and sure enough, a beautiful white bloom!
for my fellow plant nerds:
The flower structure of the Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum is called an inflorescence.
It is not a single flower, but a cluster of hundreds of tiny, individual flowers arranged on a central fleshy spike. This unique structure consists of two main parts:
Spadix: The thick, cream-colored inner spike that holds the actual flowers.
Spathe: The large, leaf-like hood (purplish-red outside, white inside) that surrounds the spike.
