Fun brainwashing story with Udvash
Recent story. My dad saw Udvash’s outstanding marketing tactics (iykyk) and decided to get me into their final model tests. Back when I was preparing for my SSC, with barely a week left in hand, my local Udvash branch was repeatedly calling my father and me to attend their ‘Dua Mahfil (?)’ that they’ll host at the mosque in our area. My father, being a moderately pious man, kind of forced me to go.
After going there, my dad forcibly was the only parent who went there along with me. The rest of the teenagers were advised against bringing their parents into the mosque. What I thought would be a 15 minute session turned to be a 2.5 hour long brainwashing seminar hosted by my local Udvash branch to force teenagers into attending a 40 day long Chillah with them. They collected our addresses, numbers and forced us to name a certain period of how long we’d go with them. Note, no parent was present there except for mine. So these teenagers were being forced into making decisions like these, without their parents’ consent or them knowing beforehand.
The first hujur talked about respecting our parents, privileges and the last hujur talked about how ignoring our deen (religion) would send us to hell. Apparently, not attending their 40 day Chilla journey is enough of a reason for them to tie up our hands and send us to hell with Satan. No correlation whatsoever, especially with SSC being a week away 😭 Preaching religion is fine, but coercing children into attending 40 day long events without their parents’ consent isn’t.
Nonetheless, my dad decided to never send me there ever again.
