An argument for buying flagship even if you don't need it

So I've noticed that a lot of people are saying that most people don't need flagship phone level performance

This is true but I see flagship phones as longevity thing

beside all the goodies like camera and build quality, Yes, you won't need the performance right now if all your usage is social media , but how about 6 or 7 years in the future?

The flagship you bought now will give you a mid-range phone performance in 6 or 7 years so you can hold to it for like 2 or 3 years more giving you around 8+ years of usage !

ofc you will need to replace the battery during this time but that's not really that big of a deal

Some of you would say who will hold to his phone for 6+ years , well surprisingly a lot of people

specially in 3rd world countries like my country , where the minimum wage for the whole month is less than 100 USD

Also this is specially true right now where companies like Samsung offers 7 years of software updates for their flagship phones

Let me give you an example

It's 2019 and you bought oneplus 7

Now it's 2016 , you have a 7 years old phone , and guess what ? a new mid-range phone is announced that is the Nothing 4b

And you know what? your oneplus 7 gives you the same performance as this new Nothing 4b!!!

so let's say the person who is buying the nothing 4b use it for 2 years , so your oneplus 7 phone is good for 2 more years !

9 years of usage !!!

Only a flagship can give you this kind of longevity.

So that's my argument , what do you guys think?
