A quiet appointment is not bad service
Some clients want conversation. Some want thirty minutes where they don’t have to perform.
For me, a quiet appointment still means personal service: a clear consultation at the start, confirmation before major changes, attention to comfort, and simple maintenance advice at the end.
Silence only becomes bad service when the barber stops communicating about the haircut. It shouldn’t feel cold. It should feel like there is no pressure to make small talk while I focus on the work.
