My brother has a Chromebook, (not sure which kind) and my parents want to install Qustodio (for a good reason) on his laptop. I’ve heard that he can bypass it by using guest mode, is this true? I can figure out how to disable guest mode if I do a few google searches, but he’s already super mad at my parents for installing the app, and I don’t want him to be mad at me for “making it worse”. The best answers I’ve gotten are from the dumb Google search AI thing, and a small blurb from the Qustodio website saying that they “reccomend” disabling Guest mode, and that it could “potentially” compromise the app, but I want to

A. Hear from a human, and

B. Get a firm “yes” or “no” as to if this is true, not just a “potentially“ or a “we recommend“. I don’t want him to be upset at me like he’s upset with our parents, but I do genuinely think he needs the app at least for a little while…

Also, from what I understand, my parents have the app installed on his Chromebook, but not the browser extension. I also heard that this means his searches may not be monitored- is this also true?

Okay, so I only have tonight to receive an answer to these questions. My parents are putting Qustodio on my iPad despite me turning eighteen in less than a year, and it being my BROTHER who googled inappropriate content, not me (my parents know this). I had to say goodbye to all of my friends on Discord, and it really bums me out. but that aside, I have a few questions.

my dad said the strictness of the app varies from person to person because he can change the settings however he likes. Is this true? and if so, how loose do these restrictions get?

second, I have a Nintendo switch that I managed to get my YouTube account on, as well as some crude form of a search engine, and ao3 (if there’s a screen, there’s fanfic). if I use youtube on my switch, and then open the same YouTube account on my iPad, will it show my parents what I watched on the switch? my main account will be loaded onto my iPad so that my Gmail stays signed in, but I would be using a burner account made under an entirely different email. And will it show that I’ve logged into ao3 on my switch? This entire thing is a big one, I really need an answer to this ASAP

third, can it see Gmail emails? things like email titles and senders, etc. because I get a lot of emails from TikTok, and I don’t want my dad seeing that.

fourth, what’s your experience with the app, and how bad was/is it to live with? any tips for surviving and living with this bullshit? I’m so fucking scared, and I feel really numb, but also like I wanna cry. I finally felt like I was being treated like an adult, but my parents are extremely paranoid, and so here we are.
