Need help with Kyber headless tremolo returning to zero
I’m having a repeatable and confusing tuning issue with a Kyber headless trem system. The behavior changes depending on whether the last motion was a pull-up or after adjusting spring tension.
⸻
🔧 Case 1 (initial setup state):
* Downward trem use is normal
* After a pull-up, the overall pitch shifts sharp
* After pressing the arm down again, the pitch returns to normal correctly
So in this state, pull-up → downstroke → normal recovery works.
⸻
🔧 Case 2 (after adjusting spring tension):
* Upward motion behaves normally
* But after a downward press, the pitch drifts flat / does not return cleanly
* In this state, after a pull-up, the system behaves differently again
* It requires another pull-up to “restore” correct behavior
So effectively:
After a pull-up, any subsequent downward motion produces a consistent offset until another pull-up resets the system back to normal behavior.
⸻
❓ Question:
Has anyone seen a floating trem where return-to-zero behavior depends on the previous pull-up/down cycle (state-dependent offset)?
Is this more likely:
* Spring torque / geometry imbalance
* Pivot or knife edge friction issue
* Or a known behavior in Kyber/headless floating trem systems?
