Sparxie as his Elation teammate?
This is an idea before the real kit drops, so please take this with a grain of salt.
If you have been following leaks since the beginning, you will know that Waventurine is currently designed to have a gambling mechanic. His mechanic is similar to how he worked in Try Not To Laugh Challenge, which gave him 2 ults and the ability to spam them to regenerate a small amount of punchlines (PL)/ advance Aha. It is also said his ult has a jackpot mechanic that will advance Aha once it hits, but the jackpot wouldn't do much damage if PLs are low.
As far as we know, leaks say his FUA team requires numerous small hits to do damage > which might mean PLs can be generated through FUA attack if he is the only Elation; but none of the leaks have stated directly how Waventurine will gain PL in the Elation team.
If the leaks about his ult and how he works are correct, it will lead to a problem Waventurine will face in the Elation team: Elation team doesn't do FUA for him to generate PL. Neither do the Elation supports generate enough PL from their skill/ult to give PL to him, as both Yao Guang and EMC only give 3 PLs per attack/skill and 5 PLs per ult. Yao Guang's 20 PLs Aha Instant isn't the same as the Aha Instant on the action bar, which is the thing Waventurine is pulling.
Iirc, the comedian that is paired with Aventurine in the Try Not To Laugh Challenge is QQ, whose mechanic is now Sparxie to use. So what if, Sparxie was not meant for SW999, but for Waventurine himself?
Sparxie herself is a PL generator, and she is supposed to be a very good sub DPS for SW999. But the current state of E0 Sparxie is quite dire, because she doesn't have a place in the current Elation teams outside of being the main DPS herself. SW999 team doesn't need her that much, Nescia team doesn't need her, only her E2 is good for a high-end team, but most will argue that it is better to pour resources into your main DPS rather than into Sparxie herself.
So what can a sub DPS Sparxie do for an Elation team that needs to actively generate PLs?
It is simple. She needs a main DPS that needs her more than SW999 does.
From the leaks, I have an idea that Aventurine might do very little damage with his ult (like, single target ult? In this AoE bounce economy? This might not be true but I can't rule out the possibility.) He might heavily rely on his Aha Instant to do the big damage, similarly to how Sparxie relies on her EBA and Aha Instant to do damage. The way for this team is Aventurine does his skill and has energy for his ult > Sparxie generates PLs > Aventurine pops his ult > If it hits, advancing Aha, both of them do damage through their Elation skill > Aventurine does his skill and has his ult ready again > Sparxie generates PLs for Aha Instant.
This mechanic doesn't necessarily brick Aventurine in his FUA team, if he counts PLs through FUA, that means in an ideal team, Aventurine will have 3 PL generators at his disposal. (Only ideally if it doesn't require him being the sole Elation unit in this team.) This also explains why he works better in FUA team, because 2 PL generators are better than one Sparxie in his Elation-only team.
You might think that they have a problem with skill points; Ashveil and Blade are both SP neutral and Sparxie is SP hungry. But this is easily fixed with Aventurine being SP positive. His ult gives back skill points, his Elation skill recovers some or gives Sparxie "Thrill", his normal skill doesn't consume anything, etc. He can just do a basic attack, and Sparxie can work around it. Making Aventurine an SP-positive unit will save Sparxie whatever she needs to work in his team.
This is just my speculation. I always feel like Sparxie was never designed to be SW999's core teammate, especially after 4.2v3 bound SW999 to Yao Guang. She still has her loot box that recovers skill points for Sparxie, but it is a gacha loot box, and who loves gacha more than your local gambler?
I am thinking way too much into this, but the more I think about his kit crumbs, the more it doesn't make sense for two peacocks to be on the same team - they technically are doing the same Aha Instant mech but in different ways. Which leads me to think who is the Elation teammate that Aventurine can use and will give him PL. I still very much love him to be the only Elation anti-Elation unit, but if he can work with other Elation units, it is what it is.
Aventurine being SW999's teammate is very unlikely. His gambling ult advances Aha with the amount of PLs they currently have; if it misses or PLs are lower than 60, SW999 won't be getting her ult anytime soon. EMC might be a good choice, but only because they give Aventurine a free Elation skill, but they are not a PL generator themselves. Nescia... maybe for CB I suppose? It is as flimsy as what SW999 team might look like.
Sparxie is the only one that seems like a good match, and it is objectively fun to pair them together. Maybe that is why they are rerunning her before 4.5 not because she is due, so people who follow the beta can decide if they want to build Aventurine's Elation team or FUA team. Overall, I will wait to see in the upcoming beta.
