Replacement Keys

So I was told my 2018 and up to I think 2024 U.S. z900rs version does not have the ignition immobilizer and therefore doesn't need a chip key like in the U.K, Japan, and some other countries do. I called Kawasaki U.S. and they informed me that yes but even though it doesn't have a chip the key blank (27008-0558) is the only blank that works. I called the dealership and they said the same thing. Looked online and no other information that I could find. So I'm writing to you to tell you I just got back from getting my over priced $60+ key blank cut and my locksmith said wait a minute and pulled a regular blank off his wall and cut it as well. Got home tried my OEM and yes it worked. Tried the one he gave me and what do you know? It worked as well. A $5 key blank worked. I feel that the Stealership and Kawasaki U.S.A. did the usual dumb customer I'm gonna get you. So the key blank that works is a (KA34) for Kawasaki blank. The locksmith also recommended to cut the key directly off the original key instead of the code. Hope this helps and the z900 is the same!!!
