Suspension? Help please
Hi everyone, I’m honestly really stressed right now and was hoping someone who’s been through something similar at NJIT could give me advice.
I just finished my freshman year and my cumulative GPA ended up being a 1.587 after already being on academic probation. Based on the policy, I think I may be facing academic suspension and I’m terrified because I genuinely do not want to leave NJIT. This year was honestly rough for me because I commute around 2 hours daily using public transportation, I had night classes some days and wouldn’t get home until close to midnight, both my parents work so I help take care of my younger siblings including dropping them off and picking them up from school. I also realized my original major was not a good fit for me, and I recently switched, I know at the end of the day my grades are my responsibility, and I’m not trying to make excuses. I just genuinely struggled balancing everything while adjusting to NJIT academically and i genuinely can’t believe that I went from being valedictorian to facing academic suspension. Also my tuition is fully covered with fafsa so I know that’s also going to be an issue. Anyways I just wanted to ask:
Has anyone here successfully appealed academic suspension/SAP issues?
What was the process like?
What kind of documentation did you submit?
Did NJIT give you another chance?
I also feel like my circumstances aren’t really extenuating and would get denied, like what kind of evidence would I even submit for the appeal? Please be honest but kind lol, I’m already freaking out enough right now.
