Do I need a medical certificate dated on the day of the exam, or can I get the certificate beforehand?

I missed a mandatory online quiz worth 15% of my final grade because I confused the timing while balancing work and being unwell. I know this is entirely my responsibility.

I emailed my course convenor immediately after realizing it was closed(2hours after closing) and politely asked if there is any possibility of reopening it or doing an alternative attempt.

The course is quite strict (mandatory assessment), and I’m worried this might result in a fail for the unit. I’m an international student and this unit is important for my progression/scholarship.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How strict are universities usually with reopening missed quizzes like this?
