Dead 12v what are the options?
Hello Friends! 2023 PHEV has been perfect until today. I’ts been 3 days since I drove it and it was completely dead. Battery tested at 4.5v which is very very unrecoverably dead. Yes, it was plugged into a level 2 charger the whole time but once the HV battery is full (or in my case at 80% since I haven’t gotten the software upgrade yet) it just disconnects and lets the 12v power the system until you do something about it. I put a charger on the post under the hood and it came back to life, but I can see the 12v battery voltage slowly going down again.
I am interested in replacing it myself with a better class of battery, but have questions about what will physically fit. The bolt for the battery hold down does not appear to have any other holes for a larger footprint? Can I really put a larger battery in there? I am definitely going to spring for the largest AGM that will fit.
in searching on this forum it seems that you folks know about getting a bigger battery to fit but I dont obviously see any post with lists or instructions? Where can I learn more about replacing the frustratingly undersized OEM batt with something new and know that it will fit when I get it home?
Any links, suggestions or pointers to the posts I missed are greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
