From FE to Full stack

Good day everyone I am a frontend react developer with about 5 years of experience and recently got redundant from a job due to a restructure. I want to use this chance to cross train to a full stack is this correct decision ? I recently noticed by looking at the job ads that front end developers roles are kind of limited i Melbourne. While Full stack roles are more in demand. What back ends language or stack should I learn to be able to find a job quickly. I usually had success learning stuff from udemy or YouTube. And what advice do you give me to help me break in back end or full stack roles i Melbourne.

Full time versus contract

I have always been only employed as a FT employee but in my profession as an IT developer people work as contracors too. To put this into numbers someone on 140k base can be on a contract earning about 900 a day which translates to about 200 k a year I know that this comes without the security and consistency of a full time job but people on full time jobs can be terminated too at any time. What do you think is the right way to approach this if you are after the high income from contract jobs.

Did i take the right decision ?

My employer did a major restructure and lots of roles are being affected. They offered me the same role with the same salary but removed the yearly bonus. Me being pragmatic accepted the change to stay employed. Did i take the right decision ? My reasoning is that better be safe and buy time instead of suddenly loosing my job as like everyone i have bills, mortgage and a lease. And i see everyone says the job market is not the best right now. I actually have some savings that can keep me and my family afloat for about six months but that means i will eat into savings and have to deal with anxiety and the hassle of looking for another job. Did i take the right decision ?
