For those of you who have resigned after only a few weeks at a new school, how did you do it? Did you give two weeks? Or did you just tell the principal you were leaving after the day ends? This is my second week at the school and I am not able to handle it. There’s no contract, my school is at-will employment.
I had a really bad class this morning. I teach all boys and no one was focusing at all. I feel like I’m a bad teacher because I cannot get classroom management down. It’s become a really tough mental battle for me and I don’t know what to do. I’m not as young as I used to be and it’s affecting me physically and mentally. I also feel like I don’t have the tools or time to make it better. I guess I’m just ranting. I don’t know what to do, we are only in the second week of the year.
Hi everyone. I’m in a bit of a pickle. I taught middle school for a few years at different schools in a city, decided that I needed some time off from teaching because I was completely burnt out and felt like I was not adequate when it came to being a teacher. It was truly hard for me to manage the behaviors in my classes and the constant prepping for classes got to me. I felt like I didn’t have a life anymore. I ended up moving away for a job at a university (not teaching). Long story short, the location was not for me or my partner and the work environment was a bit toxic. So, we had no ended up moving back to the city we were previously in. I took a teaching job because I thought I had missed it and I needed a job. Now we are a few days into the school year and I’m realizing why I left teaching in the first place. I’m scared that this year is going to end up like the last year I was teaching which was very hard for me. I do want to help the kids and be there for them, but it’s already been so difficult. What would you do in this case?
