Sliding Headfirst?

Im about to start high school ball and higher level travel, even with my over 6 years of playing competitively, Ive never learned to slide, my reason being, 1) im already slow, i dont think sliding will help much, and 2) i admit, im scared.

I was recently at a camp where we did sliding on a slip and slide and that helped a lot, but even then, I could only slide headfirst confidently.

Is it going to cause a problem if i really cant slide headfirst? What about into home? And yes, I already know sliding headfirst is more dangerous but truth be told, I dont really care. So if I were playing in a winning game, and I was needing to run into home, but had to slide, would I cause more issues if I could only slide headfirst?

Also, if youre a coach, I would love to hear your oppion on girls who can only slide headfirst.

Blocking plate while catching mid play?

Im a catcher for a rec league fast pitch in this game. In my last game, something confusing went down. I feel like I know the rules but I typically feel like i dont because I often feel like between school and rec and travel I get totally differnt rules,warnings,advice, etc.

So towards the end of the game, my team was winning by a lot, and im not really sure how this all went down, but eventually there was about to be a play at the plate. I did as ive been taught over the many years and set up just right outside where i thought the plate was, as I couldnt really see it. I look for the ball, and as its already coming towards me, I set up to recive and tag as it wansnt a force out. I had no idea what this runner was doing becuase she ended up beating the ball there just by a little. Then we she went down, i had the ball and went for a tag just incase, and thats when I heard crying and yelling.

The runner was declared safe, which was fine, I knew our team would be just fine. But the parents started yelling at me and my coaches saying I was blocking the plate. I didnt think I was and was caught offgaurd by an adult yelling at me? And also, I thought I was allowed to because it was going to be a close play and the ball was very cleary activly being thrown to me for a play.

My coaches had my back and so did the other teams and we continued the game. Another play at home, I did the same thing, this time the ball beat the runner and was called out. This ended the game.

Later I was talking with my coaches and was very confused. Apparently there were other things going on other than me just "blocking the plate". Apparently there was a bat in the way, the runner more seemed like she fell rather than slid, (therefore ending up crashing into me) and of course, they seemed to be unclear of me blocking the plate.

So really, am I in the wrong here? Am I not allowed to block the plate if theres a play activly happening while a runner is (trying) to slide? Please note that the runner also cleated me and made my foot bleed lol. I really just need a real refresher on these rules so I can make sure im confident and correct while playing the game.

Sorry for yapping, lol

Best bag for working?

So as the title says, Im looking for a good bag to take to work. I guess I should also clarify that I only volunteer there and really just play a part in the education team for our animals. I live in an area where it can get really hot and humid so I try to carry some exta things with me. Recently, my old hiking bag broke and tore in many areas and became unusable.

Here are some things I need and want my bag to be able to support!

* 1-2 waterbottles, they are small, maybe 25 oz each?

* some sunscreen and bugspray

* medication

* lunchbox

*wallet

*handsantizer

*wipes

* headphones

*glasses

*hat

I would really appreciate some recommendations! While I do have acess to lockers where i work, I choose to carry these things with me due to me having a chronic illness. :)
