I bought the game on Xbox one at launch, and basically gave up once I made it to England due to performance issues. I bought it again on PC 4 years ago, and Ubisoft connect says I’ve completed 15%. I last played in October 2024 and I vaguely recall pledging allegiance to one or two “groups” and meeting the sons of Ragnar. I’ve completed and replayed Odyssey multiple times and I enjoy the rpg-style gameplay but Valhalla’s story hasn’t been memorable in any way so far. Does it get better, or is it really 60 hours of the same repetitive loop as some reviews suggest?

This is my first GoW game and I’ve got pretty high expectations. I’ve gotten up to the part where you meet Brok and upgrade the axe. So far it’s been opening up chests and fighting draugers while following a relatively linear path. When/Will the game “open up”?
