WTF were the organizers doing? If the leading group of cyclists crash in the final lap, the game has to be stopped. It has to be a red flag. How else do you ensure the spirit of the race? What else are the rules and flags for, if not to uphold the fairness of the race?

It is ridiculous to allow the race to finish on a yellow flag. The athletes spent the whole year and 199 laps doing everything right only to be let down by officials who could not think on their feet. It was heartbreaking to watch the athletes inconsolable after the crash.

UPDATE (since my post was not clear): The race should have been stopped (red flag), XA that caused the crash should have been penalized/disqualified. The lead group should have been allowed to retain their positions and for the final lap all the cyclists should have started from a dead stop.

Congratulations to Black Key Bulls. They did nothing wrong. But the organizers need to apologize to all the cyclists that crashed. They did not uphold the spirit of the race, and failed to ensure a fair and thrilling finish.
