Is "Batang Bata Ka Pa" really about age?

I've been listening to "Batang Bata Ka Pa" by APO Hiking Society, and I realized people often assume it's simply about someone being "too young."

But the more I listen to the lyrics, the more it feels like it's talking about emotional maturity rather than actual age. It seems to describe someone who wants to rush into love, adulthood, or serious commitments without fully understanding the responsibilities and consequences that come with them.

What's interesting is that the song still feels relevant today. A lot of people—regardless of age—can be "batang bata" when it comes to relationships, decision-making, or understanding life.

How do you interpret the song?

  • Do you think it's mainly about literal age?
  • Or is it more of a metaphor for emotional and mental maturity?
  • Has your understanding of the song changed as you've gotten older?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and different interpretations.
