India's Chief justice called indian youth cockroaches. Here's what actually happened
A lawyer walked into the Supreme Court - not to fight for a client - but to chase his own Senior Advocate designation. For the third time.
CJI Surya Kant didn't hold back.
"Is Senior Advocate a status to be ornamentally kept at residence? Or a recognition for your role in the justice delivery system?"
Then came the remarks that set the internet on fire -
"There are youngsters like cockroaches. They don't get any employment. Some become media, some become RTI activists. And they start attacking everyone."
The CJI clarified he meant those entering professions with fake degrees - not India's youth at large.
But the phrase had already traveled. First-generation lawyers. Small-town advocates. No godfather, no NLU degree, no senior to mentor them - they heard it differently.
"Proud Cockroach" started trending
