Offseason Gains

Do we know what metrics impact Offseason Gains? I had a Freshman QB that started year 1 and has C+ potential and he got no offseason gain. Now I know he doesn't have a high potential but I feel like the fact he started & played should impact his improvement going into the next season.

I think all starters should have a baseline boost in their offseason gains just based of playing experience.

Thoughts?

The Case for Dropping Drama Content

After the court case is finished, I think Destiny should drop all personal drama content from his platforms and any adjacent platforms/Discords. He should also refrain from engaging with people who want to litigate his personal life..

Just to be clear, this is merely a suggestion as a way forward. I don’t care about anything to do with his personal life, it’s none of my business. This is simply a potential blueprint for the future.

The first thing that needs to be done is to disassociate DGG from The Melting Pot (and all future drama discords). Stop the embeds and let it be its own thing in the ether. This has already been suggested and most of the reasons are pretty clear. My two points are this:

  1. It’s inevitably going to become an anti-fan/snarker community
    • Regardless of how Dan thinks he can manage things as the top admin (he stated he has admin control on Anything Else) the premise of The Melting Pot will lead to bad actors acting badly. There has already been bad behavior exhibited targeting Foodshops.
  2. Keeping drama at arm’s length from you gives people a vector for personal attacks
    • With The Melting Pot being so closely attached to DGG people can always point to it and say… “see classic Destiny and DGG behaviour”. It also gives bad actors a place to litigate Destiny’s past in an attempt to bait him into debating. It’s a clout tactic that only benefits the person doing the baiting.

Secondly, after he drops his post-case doc/stream, he shouldn’t litigate or debate it. The information is there, if people want to go over it they can… but answering every detail or debating every interpretation will only breathe more life into snarker/anti‑fan communities.

If push comes to shove, he could do one moderated panel with someone like Whick — but then it’s over. Sure people will say all kinds of things and claim you don’t want to debate it because you know it’s all lies but we know exactly how to deal with those types of situations. Ignore it!

People will eventually content themselves out if they know they can’t bait you for views. Their audience will eventually get tired of watching them circle the drain on the same topic.

With all that being said, I’d like to point to positive and negative examples of this in action.

Positive Example

  • Brian Tyler Cohen: When the article about Chorus by Taylor Lorenz dropped I believe he might have put out one statement addressing it and then moved on. I don’t remember him running the circuit doing interviews and addressing every single point in the article.

Negative Example

  • Ethan Kline: While maybe not an exact apples to apples comparison, Ethan’s use of the legal system to attack every perceived slight (just or otherwise) always stokes the flame for a new content cycle. With every new suit filed, all the people that dislike him get to make a new round of videos and all those communities get to trudge up all of Ethan’s missteps.

In closing, I worked at a famous ex-athlete owned restaurant. It was poorly run by the GM but all the blame and mismanagement was directed towards the ex-athlete.

At some point, a bunch of ex-employees started a public instagram account (and were going to start a podcast) that started posting details from behind the scenes in an attempt to disparage the ex-athlete.

If we would have engaged, the ex-athlete had enough presence that it would have blown up into a big thing. So we paid it no attention and it just died out.

That’s the approach Destiny should take toward personal drama going forward, in my opinion. I’m not calling for a fortress arc… think of it as building a moat around anything personal.
